Australians are uneasy with their personal financial information being sent offshore by accountants and advisers, according to a survey we conducted. Data indicates overall adverse attitudes towards sensitive personal and financial information being accessed by unknown entities overseas, particularly when it comes to privacy and security.
Key findings from the survey revealed that respondents did not believe businesses or consumers benefited from financial data being sent offshore. A large share (70 per cent) said they were uncomfortable with their personal financial information being processed and stored offshore, with a massive group of respondents condemning the practice of accountants and advisers sending work to offshore suppliers – a total of 93 per cent expressed a negative view of this.
